Coweta Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy
The goal of the Ferst Foundation is to provide age-appropriate books for every child under the age of five in Coweta County.
Coweta STEM Institute
Promote interest and enthusiasm in science and the technologies, particularly among elementary and middle school teachers and students... to encourage females and minorities to enter science and technology fields... to help U.S. students become the first in the world in science and math... and to prepare better qualified workers for our nation's industries.
Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones is a hospital based early intervention program that promotes initial parenting skills needed to prepare children for successful beginnings. The program was developed by two teachers who recognized a need to address the vast differences among students entering the Coweta County School System. Realizing that too many of the entering kindergartners lacked the basic skills needed for success in school, and also realizing that many of these students were born to teenage mothers, Stepping Stones was formed.
Can't Never Could
Can’t Never Could, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to helping individuals and groups who are facing adversity and personal battles, and CNC assists them through monetary donations and support and faith in Jesus Christ.
Operating Fund
The Operating Fund is the fund that the Foundation uses to operate the overall Foundation. This fund is used primarily for expenses that the Foundation incurs to operate to benefit the citizens of Coweta County.
Education Fund
A pool of funds that from which grants will be awarded during the annual grants cycle to those nonprofit agencies in the area of providing education and literacy programs and services.
Fine Arts Fund
The Fine Arts Fund is where a donor can place funds that will be used for grants that surrounding painting, sculpture, architecture, music, poetry, theatre and dance in our community.
Women and Children’s Fund
Launched in October of 2015 with the vision of improving the lives of women and girls in need throughout Coweta County, The Women's and Children’s Fund is being built as an endowment to support nonprofits working to: encourage the achievement of self-sufficiency for women; promote the health and physical well-being of women and girls; and prevent violence against women and girls.
Health & Human Services Fund
The Health and Human Services Fund is designed to help providers who assist our communities citizens stabilize their life and find self-sufficiency through guidance, counseling, treatment and the providing for of basic needs.
Animal Welfare Fund
The Animal Welfare Fund was created by the Foundation as an answer to a concern of our communities citizens about the growing inability of our community to provide sufficient charitable resources to care for animals. This endowment focuses its annual grant making on supporting: the health and welfare of all animals in Coweta County; the control of the population of animals; and the training of animals for use in aiding people with disabilities and assisting in both crime prevention and search and rescue.
General Grants Fund
This fund was established for those with a desire to be philanthropic to be able to place dollars where needed the most in our community. The Board of Directors uses this fund to award grants during the annual grant cycle to any nonprofit agency that qualifies for a grant through the Foundation.
Classroom Education Fund
Grassroots Classroom grants that are awarded to two Elementary, two middle school and two high school educators during our annual grants cycle. These grants are for special projects or needs where funding is not available within the school system.
Lonnie's Fund for Senior Citizens
A pool of funds that is awarded during the annual grants cycle to those nonprofit agencies in the area of providing programs and services to our senior population.
Nonprofit Education and Fiduciary Fund
A pool of funds that is awarded during the annual grants cycle to nonprofit agencies who need assistance with annual audits, updating bylaws, policies and procedures, board development, strategic plans or obtaining their nonprofit status.
Friends of the LINC
This is a wonderful group of citizens who are interested in the construction of a Linear Trail System in Coweta County. This trail system will be one that will be used by multiple generations of our community as well as attracting visitors from outside our wonderful county. Howard Warner School Playground Fund
This fund is the for the community to be able to help in the construction of a playground at the Howard Warner School.
Coweta County Disaster Response Fund
Thanks to the leadership of the Coweta Community Foundation, the Coweta County Disaster Response Fund was established on September 9, 2017 to provide grants to nonprofit organizations offering Coweta County residents assistance with food, shelter and clothing should natural disasters occour. The Fund serves as a resource to help Coweta Countians whose lives are impacted by natural disaster.
Hurricane Irma Response Fund
Those that survived Harvey remain exhausted and those now fleeing from Irma have long journeys ahead of them. Nonprofits are already gearing up to take care of those who will be impacted by this natural disaster. And you, our donors and prospective donors are wanting to help, but not sure how or where.
Our first specific response fund was created because we have received several calls on how our community can help. On September 9, 2017, we have now established the Hurricane Irma Response Fund.
100% of the money will go to the affected areas. We will partner with our sister Community Foundations in those areas that have been affected the most to place dollars where needed the most with Georgia residents being served first.
The Joe Sherwood Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Joe Sherwood Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in honor of Joseph Clay Sherwood, the son of Cindy Sherwood and Mitch and Melinda Sherwood. Joe passed away on May 7, 2017 at age 23. Joe was an eighth grader at Arnall Middle School, he and his family were surprised when he was announced as the recipient of the school’s first Noble Knight Award. The school mascot is the Knight, and the Noble Knight Award was designed to recognize “a student who has wholeheartedly assisted another in a noble and selfless way. Because the Noble Knight Award meant so much to Joe, the Sherwood family is going to present a minimum $1,500 college scholarship each year to the winner of the Noble Knight Award at Arnall Middle School. The funds will be held in trust with the Foundation for the student to receive during his or her senior year of high school as they prepare to continue their education at a technical college or university.
Region Star Student Awards
Coweta County is home to the 2018 Region Star Student Awards to be held March 20th, 2018 at the Donald Nixon Centre for Performing Arts. The Coweta Community Foundation is proud to be fiscal sponsor for these awards.
100 Women Who Care Coweta
100 Women Who Care Coweta County is a group of women who will gather four times a year for a one-hour meeting to learn about local charities and donate $100 each quarter to a charitable cause selected by the group. This combined donation of $10,000 each quarter and $40,000 annually will make a significant difference in Coweta County without time-consuming fundraising events and planning.
