A vital part of The Foundation’s mission is to make grants that enhance the living conditions and environment for the citizens of our county. Our grants are made possible through generous donations from families, individuals and corporations who give either directly to The Foundation or through their Donor Advised or Scholarship Funds that we hold for them. The following is a list of our grants from 2007 to the present from all avenues of The Foundation.
2022 Recipients
LTR Grants: total awarded $363,250
Foundation Christian Church, Newnan City Church, Plant Newnan and RiverLife – Tree & Debris Assistance Collaboration Project
$96,000 RiverLife, on behalf of the collaborative group- Foundation Christian Church, Newnan City Church and Plant Newnan, Inc., – each working in the expertise and mission of their specific organization bringing assistance to many survivors as we help remove trees and debris from their properties. The requests for assistance from homeowners in Coweta have not ended with the new year. There is still much to do in our recovery efforts. As of late, we have been receiving an increasing number of requests for larger, more difficult issues that pertain to trees and debris caused by the March 2021 EF-4 tornado, which pose a threat to the structure of homes or the safety of the homeowners. In some cases, the requests are for trimming large tree limbs only, but in others it is for complete tree felling and removal of stumps or root balls.
Unfortunately, these types of services are beyond the capabilities of our organizations and volunteers because we lack the training and equipment required to perform these tasks safely. To be done safely and correctly, these jobs require a professional tree service to complete the work. Professional tree services are by far the most expensive contracted services that tornado survivors will need to hire in their recovery efforts. RiverLife is committed to continuing to organize groups as needed to off-set professional services in order to continue our recovery efforts.
Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity, Inc
$25,000 NCHFH’s CEO, Eric Miller, sits on the Long-Term Tornado Recovery Allocations Committee. Based on NCHFH Tornado Recovery Repair Program Criteria, funds will be disbursed to support cases in which the family’s annual revenue may be up to 100% of AMI and who own and reside in the home. There will be no insurance obligation and no repayment obligation.
Our objective is to contribute up to $51k between affiliate funds and grant funds to support tornado recovery efforts in Coweta County. The Long-Term Disaster Recovery Committee will coordinate specific repair projects for applicants using the money donated by NCHFH and other community partners.
The amount of funds NCHFH will contribute to each repair is dependent on the needs of each respective homeowner and the financial contributions of other organizations at the table. NCHFH will use all grant funds received to support as many tornado recovery efforts as possible until the grant money has been exhausted.
Repair needs presented to the Allocations Committee will be funded by NCHFH and other organizations. The repairs will be carried out by the long term recovery construction manager and their team. Our success will be measured by how many families these monies contribute to returning to safe, sanitary, and secure housing situations.
The outcome of these efforts will be that homeowners in Coweta County will have repairs made to their homes that directly address the destruction caused by the March 2021 tornado.
Inspiritus – Construction Manager
$125,000 Inspiritus has been honored to be an important partner in the Coweta Long Term Recovery (LTR) efforts by providing a Construction Manager to oversee the rebuild of Coweta post storm. The Construction Manager was hired in the fall of 2021 but resigned in February. They have now hired a new Construction Manager, as we move into year two of rebuilding Coweta. They requested funding to assist with the payroll of this position and program expenses.
One Roof Ecumenical Outreach – Group counseling
$9100 One Roof Ecumenical Outreach has hired a staff member to provide counseling to the community. She has had one individual client, and participated in 30 hours of lay counseling training at Southcrest Church as of today. We have developed some group projects for seniors and are going to begin with the Tommy Thompson Senior Center on Hospital Road in Newnan. We want to bring these art therapy projects related to family life to as many seniors centers as we can this summer. We plan to address this group because of the distress related to tornado damage, ongoing fears, and perhaps it is even increased due to separation from families due to COVID-19 in the same time period.
Union City Housing Authority / Housing Authority of Newnan – Tornado Recovery Utility/Maintenance for (5) RV Campers
$25,000 The HAN received a donation of six movie campers with five (5) of them that are fully furnished that are placed on one of our properties (10 Jordan Street Newnan, Ga. 30263). We are able to house five homeowners at a time and allow them to stay in the campers for up to six months at no cost to them during their transition. The HAN will pay all selected utility and maintenance vendors invoices submitted to us on behalf of the one-going utility and or maintenance cost for the RV campers and will continue to seek additional grants and donations for their monthly cost.
We expect that we will serve a minimum of 25 residents during their transition while they are waiting for their current homes to be renovated, rebuilt and or relocated to a new, affordable living arrangement.
The funds will help in maintain a clean, safe environment for the tenants who are currently residing in the RV’s; to help cover the cost of monthly utility bills as well as maintenance up-keep of the RV’S.
ELEVATE Coweta Students
$25,000 – Student Success: Staff of ELEVATE Coweta Students continue to serve students who have been impacted by the March 2021 tornado. Students at Ruth Hill and Smokey Road at such a young age were affected emotionally causing significant academic issues. Both schools suffered no physical damage, students continue to deal with issues at home and school. Not all who attend Newnan High School suffered damage to homes, yet every student was impacted as the school was significantly damaged and now has been demolished. The emotional toll this has created for students continues to create both academic and behavior challenges. Even East Coweta High students were significantly impacted as many of those we serve live in the Chalk Level, Pinson/Savannah St area that was hardest hit. Daily students enter our rooms for guidance for a host of issues. In fact, we are even seeing struggling students that have had close friends impacted by the tornado. Our Site Coordinators and staff will continue to work one-on-one with caseload students providing goal setting, accountability, social emotional learning, and encouragement to assist and promote success in the classroom. In addition, teachers frequently have students come to our rooms to make up assignments, tests, and homework. We are seeing more instances of students needing a calming space to alleviate anxiety and stress. Many of our students find that they can talk to our staff and share issues impacting their lives as some have very limited adult support. ELEVATE is their only place they can open up, feel valued, and have the ability to focus on being successful in school. We serve hundreds of students with basic needs including food, clothing, and school supplies. Students visit our room regularly for items that they would otherwise go without. Funding for this program at schools serving students impacted by the tornado will allow our organization to continue to provide these additional layers of support. The staff are the program and without funding for salaries, hundreds of students will not have the resources they need to be successful in school. This grant will allow that to continue.
Hope Global Initiative
$25,000 – Long Term Housing Initiative: The construction of a duplex in Newnan Georgia will provide affordable housing for displaced families from the tornados that hit Newnan GA last year. The funds will be used to purchase building materials for the construction of duplex.
The families that will move into the duplex are those affected by the tornado in 2021. This will give the opportunity to reset their lives after losing their homes by providing a safe, healthy, and affordable home.
This project is a collaborative effort and we wish to get these families with Children in a stable home and to see them do better in school due to a healthy and consistent living situation.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta
$25,000 – Transportation Logistics in Coweta County Boys & Girls Clubs: We are requesting funds to support transportation costs for the Coweta County Clubs; as part of our holistic model, we pick up our members after school and bring them to the Club. Through investing in this work, the Coweta Community Foundation will help us continue to provide transportation to the Clubs from Coweta County Schools in FY 2022/23. As you can imagine, transportation is a barrier to attend the Club for many of our youth. It is difficult (if not impossible) for working parents to leave their place of employment to transport their children to the Club, even more so with COVID-19 and public transportation is not an option for our youth. Thus, transportation is a vital component of our programmatic strategy and our overall service delivery for the youth of Coweta County. With the support of the Coweta Community Foundation, we will invest in vehicle maintenance, gas and driver salaries.
Coweta Family Connection Corp
$8,150 – Caring for Those Who Care: Mental Health and Wellness is the current buzzword as the Covid-19 pandemic grinds on and those in Newnan, Georgia continue to deal with the aftermath of the March 2020 tornado. Particularly for those individuals caring for the families and businesses impacted by the tornado, maintaining personal mental health and wellness gets pushed to the backburner. It is vital to the ongoing work of restoration to these individuals and families that the leaders and volunteers providing the care and support to tornado survivors also receive care to avoid personal burnout and improve resiliency.
This project, Caring for Those Who Care, seeks to provide individual and group counseling to volunteers or individuals serving with the Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG), the Covid/Tornado Response Group, Expert Panel, Allocations Table, Coweta Community Foundation Tornado Ad Hoc Committee, and 501c3’s supporting LTR efforts.
The project will kick off with a Mental Wellness Event on Tuesday, September 27th to encourage and pamper those eligible for the services and introduce the collaborating partner, Sea Glass Therapy / Frayed Edges Foundation, and specifically Jennifer Yaeger, Sea Glass Therapy’s Clinical Director. An additional goal of the kickoff event is to provide mental wellness strategies that can be implemented by all whether they plan to seek counseling services through the grant or not.
Grant funding will provide up to twelve individuals with one individual counseling session and one group session per week for six weeks (from Sept. 28 – November 11, 2022). Individual sessions will be provided by the licensed counselors on staff at Sea Glass Therapy, while the weekly group session will be led by Jennifer Yaeger.
Demographics for those choosing to participate will be collected at the start of the project. A pre and post session survey will be completed by individuals participating in the grant funded counseling and the results will be available with project reporting.

Newnan Coweta Angel’s House, Inc.
$2,000 Since opening it’s doors in 2004, Angel’s House has been a safe haven for over 220 children. Newnan-Coweta Angel’s House sought grant funding to assist in providing for all of the daily needs of up to ten teenage girls who reside at Angel’s House including but not limited to food, school clothes and healthcare items. In addition the grant is to be used to pay for the operation and maintenance of the home which houses the girls, their caregivers and our administrative offices.
Boys and Girls Club – Newnan/Coweta
$2,000 Newnan-Coweta Boys and Girls Club sought funding to cultivate healthy lifestyle activities by encouraging the children in the Newnan/Coweta Club’s Garden Club to learn about nature and the processes involved in growing vegetables and fruit, and ultimately to prepare healthy meals. The produce from the garden supports their cooking program in an effort to increase knowledge about nutrition and teaching the children culinary skills to prepare healthy meals at home. The foods they will prepare are ones their members may not otherwise have access to, such as organic fruits and vegetables. The Garden Club will be an ongoing and weekly project. The Garden Club will increase not only active involvement because the Club will be equipped with the necessary tools, but also reinforce healthy eating behavior.
Bridging The Gap
$2,000 During the summer, BTG serves lunches 5 days a week for 10 weeks when free schools meals are not available. Each Friday, they partner with backpack buddies to send a bag of food home with each child. They also plan activities with the children, things like kickball, water balloons, ice cream, reading, clean up days and service projects. Along with serving food each day and activities, positive adult interactions and bonds are formed. Volunteers are able to be positive role models and mentors to the kids. Volunteers are given a safe environment to interact with the children in a fun and creative way. During the program they are given the opportunity to interact with parents and invite them to their office for food assistance and to learn about other assistance programs. They end the summer lunch with a bash where we provide back to school clothing for children. For 2019 their goal is 10,000 lunches and increasing awareness of services available to families.
Coweta CASA
$2,000 Coweta CASA sought funding with the goal to recruit, screen, train and support community volunteers for foster children. CASA supports community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in juvenile court proceedings in Coweta and Heard counties. The CASA program is a nationally developed, federally recognized advocacy model that directs the provision of volunteer Guardian ad Litem (GAL) representation for children involved in juvenile court dependency proceedings. Georgia’s Juvenile code requires the appointment of both an attorney and Guardian ad Litem for each child in a dependency case. While an attorney can simultaneously serve in both capacities, the code states that judge shall appoint a CASA to serve as GAL whenever possible. Expected results will include permanency decisions based on children’s best interests, appropriate services offered throughout the duration of court involvement, minimal placement changes, and appropriate visitation.
Christian City
$2,000 Kids come to Christian City from family placements or from DFCS, as well as youth admitted through the National Safe Place Program for Runaway and Homeless Youth. Some youth live at The Children’s Village for a short while; others spend most of their childhood here. Amidst the dire landscape there is hope. Kids who come to Christian City Children’s Village are met by a dedicated staff with decades of experience providing kids with loving support, opportunities to heal physical and mentally, and mentoring to heal their wounds and begin building a positive and productive future. Lead by their dedicated house parents, the cottages function much like a healthy biological family functions – they have family meals, have chores and duties, study, have part-time jobs, participate as a family in community activities, support one another, and often say “I love you.” We hope to change a child’s expectation of how families function and how they will one day lead a family.
CORRAL
$2,000 CORRAL’s mission is to provide and promote equine-assisted learning for physically and/or mentally challenged individuals in a safe, loving and Christian environment by offering participants exposure to a sense of freedom and achievement while enjoying the outdoors. They sought funding to sponsor a horse for one year. Their program depends on the health and wellbeing of nine therapy horses, and the estimated cost to maintain one horse per year is $2500. This grant will cover the normal care of one therapy horse for one year. The four-legged therapists range in age from 16 to 28-years-old. They are maintained on hay and mineral supplements throughout the year and receive special formulated feed to keep them in top working condition. Other expenses include deworming, farrier services, veterinarian services, and yearly dental care. Each member of their herd of nine horses is carefully selected and trained to meet the needs of the riders and drivers.
Coweta Pregnancy Services
$3,000 Coweta Pregnancy Services sought funding for their ongoing Earn While You Learn Crib & Car Seat Program. Through one-on-one parenting education classes that parents attend regularly, the clients can earn a new crib and car seat for their baby. Each year, over 7,000 babies die from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome from sleeping in an unsafe environment such as on a couch or in the bed with parents. Their mission is to drastically reduce this number by allowing clients to earn not only the crib and car seat, but also earn diapers, wipes, clothes and other baby necessities. By providing these items, it takes pressure off first time and new parents to focus on a healthy pregnancy as these are two of the most expensive items a parent must have.
Flint River Council, Boy Scouts of America
$2,000 Flint River Council sought support for their Youth Recruitment Project. Each fall they do presentations in 20 elementary schools, 6 middle school and 3 high schools in Coweta County and hold Sign-Up Nights 4 nights a week for 2 months for their Youth Recruitment Project. These presentations and Sign-Up Nights are vital to reaching and recruiting youth into the program. The Youth Recruitment Project in Coweta County cost approximately $10,500. Included in this cost is volunteer training, staff support, printed material such as flyers about the program, upcoming camp events and programs activities, yard signs, stickers and posters. Funding for operating expenses will allow them to focus funds to other areas of the programs such as financial assistance to at-risk youth and families, program supplies and trainings.
Newnan -Coweta Habitat For Humanity
$2,000 NCHFH requested funds to subsidize contractor expenses (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, foundation, etc) and construction materials needed for its Brush with Kindness Repair Program. They currently have a pipeline of existing homeowners in Coweta County who are in need of extensive critical repairs. Through this grant, NCHFH can aid homeowners in need of repairs such as leaking roofs, sinking foundations, repair or replacement of subfloors, termite damage, energy efficient windows and doors, and more. For 2019, NCHFH’s goal is to assist 7 to 10 families in need of repairs for their existing homes
Meals On Wheels of Coweta
$4,200 Meals on Wheels of Coweta’s mission is to promote aging in place and improve quality of life for Coweta County’s homebound elder adults who are ill or disabled and unable to prepare meals for themselves. Since January 1, 2018 MOWOC has experienced a 25% growth in the number of elder Cowetans who receive home delivered meals. MOWOC served an average of 100 clients in 2017; currently 126 clients are receiving meals. This 25% growth requires employees to work more hours to prepare these additional meals. The purpose of this grant is to fund the hourly wages and payroll expenses for one month for four part-time staff employed by Meals on Wheels of Coweta: Director of Meal Services; Coordinator of Meal Services, Chef; and Office Manager. A one-month reprieve from payroll expenses in July 2019 will offset the high cost of electricity to maintain a constant temperature of 75 degrees in the summer months, June – September. This temperature requirement is determined by the Atlanta Community Food Bank, MOWOC’s primary food source.

The largest part of their financial assistance budget is in the form of temporary emergency housing, such as hotel rooms. They also provide assistance with rent and mortgage payments to keep clients in their homes during periods of crisis.

The camps are not only fun and educational but provide students with opportunities to nurture their talents and self expression in an inclusive and confidence building environment. The staffs of the camps are highly skilled teachers and technicians who are passionate about the benefits of the arts.
Piedmont Healthcare Foundation
$2,800 Piedmont sought funding to support Cancer Wellness programs at the Thomas F. Chapman Family Cancer Wellness Center at Piedmont Newnan. There are more than 25 program offerings. These programs include nutrition workshops, cooking demonstrations, dietitian consultations, yoga classes, strength training, massage therapy, support groups, expressive art classes, spiritual counseling, and much more. Research suggests that therapy based programs for cancer patients reduces stress, depression, and even anxiety. Last year, there were 800 patient encounters between these programs. Chair massage is offered by appointment. Massage is most beneficial to patients who develop scar tissue as a result of cancer treatments. Cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers have the opportunity to come together in a supportive environment to focus on life outside their diagnosis. A patient recently shared, “I have been so blessed by the program through knitting, art therapy, and massage. I cannot adequately express my gratitude. It is a restorative place of hope and healing.”
Real Life Center
$2,000 Real Life Center’s mission is providing necessities for living while equipping people for life. They walk with those who are hurting in Fayette and Coweta counties by providing a safe environment to first address the crisis, then promote long-term change. The purpose of this grant is to provide financial assistance to client families in Coweta County going through unexpected hard times. For example: Job loss, illness, divorce, accident, etc. During their initial face-to-face counseling assessment, they spend about an hour understanding the presenting needs. Based on that assessment, they determine the most critical financial need (usually rent or utility assistance), carefully research the need by contacting the applicable parties (such as the lessor or utility company), attempt to get participation from the client and/or other organizations, then agree to pay a one-time assistance payment up to $500. The payments are made payable to the lessors or utility companies. These funds help create initial stability to avoid cutoff or eviction. They then move into a developmental strategy, based on mutually-set objectives for a one year time frame. As of July, 2018, 88% have completed more than 50% of their goals.

They hope to outfit multiple Coweta County nonprofit employees and volunteers with CPR/First Aid certifications and the ability to correctly and confidently assist those in need.
2018 Recipients
Goodwill Southern Rivers, Inc.
$3,600 Due to the evolution of the service model in Newnan, Goodwill Southern Rivers recently hired a career coach to assist with the implementation of The Goodwill Work Experience Program to meet the needs of the community. This growth necessitates the establishment of a new office space. When Real Life Center meets with families, they also work with them to achieve an immediate plan of action.
Boys and Girls Club – Newnan/Coweta
$3,500 Funding was sought to assist the Newnan/Coweta Boys & Girls Club in purchasing the basic necessities used to grow our gardening program and to equip the Club with the relevant gardening tools. The produce from the garden will automatically support the cooking program in an effort to increase knowledge about nutrition and teaching the children culinary skills to prepare healthy meals at home. The foods they prepare are ones members may not otherwise have access to, such as organic fruits and vegetables. The Garden Club is an ongoing and weekly project. Throughout the program, they will incorporate several field trips to local farmers market and farms.. This will give members a chance to see how produce is transferred from garden to store, as well as give them a unique volunteer experience as they learn to assess and price produce. The funds will directly go towards purchasing gardening tools such as gloves, water buckets, forks, rakes, additional supplies such as soil, pots, raised beds, compost bins, as well as kitchen supplies like utensils, bowl sets, dinnerware and other items as necessary to equip the Club.
Meals On Wheels of Coweta
$5,000 Meals on Wheels Coweta sought funding to purchase food trays and lidding film for packaging over 28,000 frozen meals for delivery in 2018. These meals support over 200 individuals in Coweta who would not have the ability to have access to healthy meals and in some cases the ability to have access to food at all.
Howard Warner School Playground Fund
$10,000 The City of Newnan sought funding to help build a community playground on the grounds of the Howard Warner School to serve the residents of the Chalk Level community and the participants of the new Boys and Girls Club. The playground will also be used by the members or the Cobra Football and Cheerleading programs.
Coweta CASA
$5,000 Coweta CASA has only one purpose – to recruit, train, and support community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in juvenile court proceedings in Coweta County. The CASA program is a nationally developed, federally recognized advocacy model that directs the provision of volunteer Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) representation for children involved in juvenile court dependency proceedings. The National CASA model is replicated in more than 900 communities nationwide. Both state and federal law call for the GAL to obtain first-hand information and make recommendations to the court concerning the best interest of the child. Georgia’s new Juvenile Code requires the appointment of both an attorney and Guardian Ad Litem for each child in a dependency case. While an attorney can simultaneously serve in both capacities, the Code states the judge shall appoint a CASA to serve as GAL whenever possible. Furthermore, when a conflict of interest arises between a child’s wishes and best interests, the child’s attorney can no longer serve as GAL (O.C.G.A. § 15 – 11 – 104). The CASA volunteer is the one individual whose role never changes and remains an unwavering constant advocate for the child’s best interests, which along with the health and safety of the child, are the paramount concerns in all dependency proceedings (O.C.G.A § 15 – 11 – 100(4)).

The requested grant funds will be used to acquire the necessary licensing rights, script and score for next summer’s production. This past summer, STAR returned to The Nixon Centre after a 5 year hiatus. Approximately 35 students, along with 50 volunteers, contributed to the production.of “Hairspray,” a musical about racial integration in Baltimore in the 1960s.. On a professional size stage, the students learned about blocking, choreography, dialogue, set building and physical conditioning necessary for theatre performances. In addition to providing students with a semi-professional theatre experience, STAR participants learned much more. From this past summer’s show, students came to “understand how hard it was to live in that era…you can just feel how your character would act in that situation.” Students also said they realized that some of “the issues addressed in the show are problems today” and “it’s still up to us to push through and work to make things better.” Another significant takeaway from STAR is the interaction among students from the different high schools. As one of the director’s said,”It creates a common ground for every kind of clique. You put them on the stage and they’re on a level playing ground.”
Communities In Schools
$2,000 CIS requested funds to support the mentoring program. Communities In Schools Coweta (CIS) is working in collaboration with the Coweta County School System to provide an enhanced level of support to students through a robust mentoring program. The program is available to all students in the Coweta County public schools.
CORRAL
$2,500 In 2016 CORRAL served 176 students in Coweta County. Coweta County school groups ride with for a six-week session, coming every Monday or Thursday. In addition to the school groups, they also have two nine-week sessions every other Saturday with approximately 18-21 riders per session (included in that total of 176 participants) that do not come through the Coweta County school system. CORRAL requested support to maintain a horse for one year. Their program depends on the health and well-being of twelve therapy horses, and the estimated cost to maintain one horse per year is $2500. The grant covers the normal care of one therapy horse for one year.
Southern Conservation Trust
$1,400 Camp WILD (Water, Insects, Leaves, Dirt) continues to grow since its 2013 inception. They requested support to offer need based scholarships and reduced rate attendance fees to Coweta children. For their programs, they partner with local teachers with backgrounds in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs to create a camp that is engaging, interactive, and completely outdoors. Campers will spend their summer days immersed in the outdoors exploring aquatic life, learning about plants and wildlife along the hiking trails of Line Creek and The Ridge, and making arts and crafts. They will learn how to build boats, press and identify leaves, and work together to forge lasting memories and an amplified appreciation of the outdoors. The grant will be utilized for those students in Title I schools who need assistance to participate in the summer camp.

Support was requested to construct a new studio set, complete with flooring for use in locally broadcast television shows. The set design will mimic one currently used by a local broadcaster, but will be adapted and modified for our specific purposes.
Madras Middle School
$750 The Madras Eagle Pep Band is a first of it’s kind in Coweta County to march middle school musicians during home football games. The band rehearses one week in the summer and after school in the fall to put together and perfect a ‘show’ on the field for crowd entertainment. Since they are the first of our kind to attempt this activity, they have no marching percussion instruments at the school. So far, the percussionists use concert equipment on the sidelines while the rest of the band takes the field. These instruments would allow the percussion section to have a place on the field and take the instrument along using the included carriers. This is a ‘junior’ line, meaning the instruments are a bit smaller than the standard sizes used by high school and college musicians.
Newnan Crossing Elementary School
$250 Due to the nature of the classroom, students are served on Individuals Education Programs, or IEPs and given access to the curriculum on an individual level. However, one IEP can consist of, at minimum, 5 goals and 10 objectives covering daily living skills from eating and dressing to more functional academics such as mathematics and reading. If there are 8 children in a self contained classroom with 10 individualized objectives, the teacher and/or paraprofessional could be working on 80-100 unique objectives daily. This software program will cover nearly all objectives our students could be working on, helping to reinforce the teachings provided from the teacher and/or paraprofessional. Having this program would also allow the students within the self-contained classroom at Newnan Crossing opportunity to work independently using a computer. Increasing independent work time helps the students become more independent as they get older, hopefully to become independent, working adults in the community. Although an ending date is listed, this software would continue learning year after year.
Ruth Hill Elementary School
$525 Support was requested for the BEAR behavior intervention program. This program is designed to provide direct instruction of school success skills for first and second grade children who attend Ruth Hill Elementary School who have not yet developed these skills. The lack of school success skills may present as school problems (behavioral and/or academic), aggressive or inappropriate attention-seeking behavior, rejection by peers, and/or internalizing difficulties such as excessive sadness, fears, or worry. The goal of BEAR is for these students to learn developmentally appropriate classroom expectations, social rules, and behavioral expectations. BEAR teaches students active listening skills and age appropriate ways to seek attention from adults and peers. The program also teaches students to recognize their own thoughts and feelings and the thoughts and feelings of others through Second Step.
Winston Dowdell Academy
$750 The media center is the resource hub for the entire school.. It is a location design to provide answers and clarity to increase students’ research skills and informational knowledge. The media center lacked the resources needed to create an engaging learning environment to promote reading and learning and additional resources were needed to support learning and teaching in order to prepare our students for their transition to their traditional school or post-secondary education.
East Coweta Middle School
$635 Sixth Grade Engineering and Technology Education students are introduced to the areas of technology throughout the course. Energy, power and electronics are a major component of what they learn about during the nine weeks and currently do not have a way of practicing the skills learned during the unit. Electronics kits will help students grasp concepts and practice their skills, while reinforcing the knowledge learned. The Snap Circuit Jr kits will students to safely explore the field of energy and power with over a hundred different circuit combinations.

In essence, they only receive art supplies from about ten percent of the students. Many of their students only receive art education at school and do not even have a box of crayons at home. Therefore, it is so important for us to use these simple supplies to promote creativity in each child while they are at school!
