Abby's Angels Foundation

Abby's Angels Foundation

Abby’s Angels Foundation was created in August 2013 to forever honor 9-year old Abby Bacho.   With the assistance of guidance counselors and teachers, school supplies are provided to students with limited resources through Abby’s Closet. Like many young children, Abby loved the excitement of a new school year and choosing school supplies. Abby’s Closets are colorful nooks that give much more than the pencils, crayons, and notebooks they stock. These warm cheerful spaces also provide encouragement and inspiration to succeed. Abby’s Angels also spreads awareness and education of safe teen driving.

Angel’s House, Inc.

Angel’s House, Inc.

Like most charitable endeavors, Angel’s House has its roots in a group of concerned members of the community who saw a need and set about to help. It began with monetary donations for presents at Christmastime and grew into an annual humanitarian fund for children in foster care. In October 2000, a crisis developed when the lack of an urgent foster care facility forced children and social workers to stay overnight at the county Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) office. DFCS called on this concerned community group for help. They quickly secured a room at the local men’s shelter, and this temporary solution convinced the group that a county emergency shelter was desperately needed. The newly formed Newnan-Coweta Children’s Shelter Board went to work raising the one million dollars needed to fund construction of a permanent home and start-up program.

Educators and volunteers support the creative process as kids bring their ideas to life over a single visit or multiple trips to the Workshop.   Young creators have the opportunity to share their own projects as temporary exhibits in the museum. By empowering kids to serve as exhibit developers and curators, we create a true "children's museum."

After twenty years practicing internal medicine, Kay left her private practice in 2008 to bring a free clinic to her hometown of Newnan, Georgia. Generous support from the Coweta County Hospital Authority (building lease), Newnan Hospital Foundation (annual operating funds), and Piedmont Newnan Hospital (free lab and basic radiology services) provided a solid foundation on which to build.   CSC began treating patients in October 2011. Since then the clinic’s patient base has grown to more than 950 individuals and volunteer healthcare professionals have conducted more than 8,000 patient visits.   With the exception of three full-time and four part-time employees, all medical care and office support is provided by volunteers. More than 80 volunteers are active at the clinic and the value of service provided by volunteers in 2014 was nearly $300,000.
